Discovery is becoming a multi-surface problem
Hotel visibility is no longer one ranking or one channel. A guest can encounter a property through local results, maps, a traditional search page, a travel platform, or an AI-generated answer that summarizes options before the guest reaches a hotel website.
The marketing question therefore changes from “How do we rank?” to “Where are we discoverable, how consistently are we represented, and which discovery gaps are most likely to matter?”
Measure the whole path
A useful visibility view combines presence with the quality of the destination. Listings, local information, technical website health, structured context, search performance, and AI mentions each describe a different part of the discovery path.
Practical rule: Do not optimize every visibility surface at once. Find the weakest meaningful lens, verify the evidence, and define one action that can improve it.
AI visibility still needs property context
An AI-answer mention is not automatically valuable, and an absence is not automatically a crisis. The important question is whether the property is missing from prompts and topics that reflect real guest consideration. That is why prompt-level evidence, citations, and competitive context matter.
